T1 - Lime - To be removed to ground level and the stump poisoned to prevent regrowth. A replacement tree will be planted in the vicinity. The tree lost a major limb accross the road 15-09-13. There are Ganoderma bracket fungi on the main stem where the limb failed and a large cavity has now been opened up. There is major decay in the area of the failure and the risk of futute failure is high. A1 A variety of different trees Spec: S15 Fell tree to ground level. 1. Trees on roadside beside the lodge at entrance to school. Raise to 5m over road and or cut back from road. Remove major deadwood over road. Mixed species including oak, elm and yew. Hazard to road and road users. 2. Beech (Tag No. 2057) tree is in decline with large dead limb over churchyard. Reduce dead limb by approximately 4m to leave a 1-2m stump thus reducing damage of failure over church yard. Leaving stump will slow rot spread to main stem and allow wildlife habitat. This work should allow tree to be retained for a longer period of time. 3. Scots Pine (Tag No. 2217) has a dysfunctional union at 15m seen from above when working on 2216 beside it. Branch failure likely. Remove dysfunctional limb and reduce remaining canopy by 20% 0.5m to help balance crown. To stop limb failure. 4. Oak. located in big woods near the workshop and log store. The tree forks at 3m and has old inonotus hispidus fruiting bodies on the N limb. The S limb has woodpecker hores, an indication of internal dysfunction. The tree is in overall decline. Fell. Given the trees condition and the regular use of the area by school staff the tree should be removed. 5. Oak. located in big woods on the sports field side, near the water jump. The tree is in decline and has recently lost a large limb over the sports field at 3m. Fell. Given the trees location by the sports field and its overall condition this tree should be removed. The school has a TPO over the entire site. A tree survey was carried out at the school on some of the trees in May 2008 and a VTA program was initiated in Feb 2013. Since the survey regular tree work has been carried out as indicated by the survey along with tree maintenance. The school is now looking to be proactive with its trees hence the VTA program which has now been initiated. There is also a tree planting program with several plantations having been planted on the site containing 4000 trees.
