T1 1 Veteran Oak (Quercus robur) The proposed works relate to the careful management of a mature Veteran Oak in order to maintain the tree in a safe condition while retaining its long-term amenity and ecological value. A programme of selective deadwood removal is proposed throughout the canopy to remove dead branch material up to approximately 100 mm in diameter, where reasonably practicable. The removal of smaller deadwood will help to reduce the risk of falling debris within the immediate vicinity of the tree, particularly in relation to nearby residential garden areas and potential target zones. In recognition of the tree?s veteran status, larger diameter deadwood will be retained where appropriate to preserve important habitat features and ecological value associated with veteran trees. In addition, it is proposed to reduce one primary limb extending over the garden area of 51 Drake Avenue (SE Aspect) by selectively pruning secondary and sub-lateral branch growth only, removing approximately 2.0 metres from the branch tips. This limited end-weight reduction will help to reduce encroachment over the neighbouring property and lessen the mechanical loading at the extremities of the limb, while fully retaining the primary structural framework of the branch and the overall form of the tree. The proposed works represent minor, sympathetic arboricultural management intended to maintain the tree in a safe and sustainable condition without materially altering its appearance or amenity contribution. Particular care will be taken to ensure that the tree?s veteran characteristics, habitat value, and natural crown structure are preserved. All pruning will be undertaken to suitable growth points using appropriate arboricultural techniques and carried out in accordance with BS 3998:2010 Tree Work: Recommendations. The proposed works are therefore considered proportionate, necessary, and in the interests of good arboricultural practice, helping to ensure the ongoing safe
