About telecoms applications

How this application type works

Telecommunications applications cover masts, antennas and cabinets, most of which come forward as prior approval cases under permitted development rules. The council typically has 56 days to consider siting and appearance only. The need for the network itself is treated as established, so objections carry most weight where they address visual impact or siting.

Ash (T1) - fell because the tree's canopy fails to contribute to the visual amenities that enhance the character and setting of the Conservation Area. A healthy and well-structured canopy is essential for maintaining the aesthetic and ecological value of such areas, providing shade, habitat for wildlife, and visual cohesion with the surrounding landscape.

3 x Norway Maples at the north boundary of the property require a reduction in height and spread. The work to be carried out is as per previous approved applications. The trees will be cut back by a professional tree surgeon to previous pruning points as recommended by the tree surgeon. Related works were approved in 2019 (AT/2019/0102) and in 2017 (AT/2017/0038). The reduction is required as the trees dominate the rear of the house, shade the garden and block the gutters with fallen leaves. In addition 1 x Sycamore on the southern boundary of the property and overhanging the road will be cut back to previous pruning points by a qualified tree surgeon. This work was also carried out and approved in 2017 (AT/2017/0161), 2014 (AT/2014/0025) and 2011 (AT/2011/0038). This will be carried out to reduce overhang on the highway and will provide more light to the neighbourhood.

Ash Tree at the bottom boundary of garden. Fell this tree as it is suffering from ash dieback (shows considerable loss of foliage over its crown). The tree overhangs road "The Orchards" and is close enough to possibly fall on these houses. Would look to replant with something that can be managed to hedge size.
