What refusal means

The process from here

The council refused this application for the reasons set out on the decision notice, which the council portal holds in full. Only the applicant can appeal a refusal; the time limit runs from the decision date and is shorter for householder schemes.

Refusal does not prevent a fresh attempt. Applicants often address the reasons for refusal and resubmit, so a refused scheme is not necessarily the end of proposals for the site.

About householder applications

How this application type works

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden: extensions, loft and garage conversions, porches, outbuildings and similar alterations within the boundary of the home. They cannot be used to create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. Councils aim to decide them within eight weeks, and immediate neighbours are usually notified and given a chance to comment.

T1 - Mature Ash 'Fraxineus excelsior' - Dismantle, fell & remove to ground level Remove all cut material from site & return to a Teign Trees depot for recycling, leaving the area safe, clean & tidy. Reasons for the proposed removal works; This is a mature Ash tree showing signs of ash dieback disease and its condition is likely to worsen over the summer months. Due to the tree position & further deterioration in the condition of the tree would make manual removal very difficult & potentially unsafe. The neighbouring trees are all showing signs of ash dieback, therefore we feel early removal is essential. Our client Mr Thompson is very keen to replant with X2 native English Oak Trees 'Quercus robur' in replacement. Both replacement trees will be of Heavy Standard size (12-14cm girth, 3.00-3.50 metres in height) & a full aftercare programme will be put in place to ensure the future health of the trees is maintained.
