Oak (T1) and (T2) - Crown reduction of up to 1 metre to address structural imbalance and reduce the risk of further branch failure, while maintaining the natural form and primary structural framework with an approximate final crown spread of approximately 6-7 metres. Reduction cuts will be made at suitable lateral growth points. All pruning wounds will not exceed 50mm in diameter. Crown Spread Measurement - The stated final crown spread of approximately 6 to7 metres refers to the radial spread, measured from the stem to the outermost extent of the crown in each direction. This interpretation is consistent with BS 3998 2010, Clause 3.6 and Clause 7.7.3 which recommend specifying crown dimensions in terms of radial spread to ensure clarity and consistency in pruning specifications. Tree Height - No reduction in overall tree height is proposed. The works are limited to lateral crown reduction to address structural imbalance. Both specimens exhibit structural imbalances, particularly asymmetric crown development. This has contributed to recent branch failure on T1, indicating a potential hazard to property and public safety. No signs of severe pathogen presence were observed, but mechanical stress and crown asymmetry were noted. The site is primarily urban and industrial, surrounded by a vehicle yard and a building complex. The area is notably busy, with many people engaged in work. Elm (T3) - Fell, dead specimen poses now an elevated risk.
