What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About householder applications

How this application type works

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden: extensions, loft and garage conversions, porches, outbuildings and similar alterations within the boundary of the home. They cannot be used to create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. Councils aim to decide them within eight weeks, and immediate neighbours are usually notified and given a chance to comment.

T1 - Front garden - Holm oak - target prune lowest lateral overhanging branch back to main stem. Works required to improve relations between our client and the tree as the branch in question is causing nuisance in terms of shading and bird faeces, debris and detritus. This branch removal will not affect the aesthetics of the tree but will improve life for the property owner.

I have 4 large fir trees located on either side of my gate on Ruckamore Road, 3 on one side and one on the other side. For some years now the single tree has not appeared to be as healthy as the others, having lost a lot of its foliage. I understand, from neighbours that the tree is about 60 years old. Last week-end one of the trunks was blown down in the high winds. Fortunately, it fell in the road at such an angle that it did not damage any of the parked cars or injure anyone. Lucky too that it did not fall towards the house as it is tall enough to have come into contact with it. I have managed to cut up the wood that was blocking the pavement and moved it onto my drive prior to disposal. I am fearful that strong winds may cause this to happen again, maybe with more severe consequences, and would like your approval to have what remains of the tree taken down.
