Granted Three Rivers 23/1611/TPO Works to trees covered by a Tree Pres O

Works: Trees Small domestic

Read from the description, not a valuation. How we read the register

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Two trees both in my rear garden: Plan 1. Cherry tree. Decay in lower trunk. The tree has become tall, spindly and in poor condition. It represents a danger of collapse to both my shed and my neighbour's. We have already suffered a substantial branch falling on my shed. Proposed work: removal of tree. Plan 2. Ash. Whilst carrying out other work, it became clear there is decay to two out of the three stems probably resulting from works carried out perhaps some 20 or 30 years ago, by the previous owner. Many substantial branches have been shed, representing a danger to my grandchildren who play in this area. Proposed work to re-pollard all three stems to eliminate decayed timber and maintain shape and balance. The proposal is for crown thinning by up to 20% and crown height & lateral reduction by up to 2 metres, ensuring an aesthetic shape is maintained. Both trees are towards the rear of the garden.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

4 Trees: T1- Lime Tree- reduce height by 3m and reduce crown by 50%- a very large tree in close proximity to the house, falling branches have injured people and damaged the cars. Strong winds create danger to large branches breaking and falling on roof of house T2- Cherry Tree- reduce height by 2m and reduce crown by 50%- causes excessive shading and no plants or grass can grow around it T3 & T4- 2x sycamore trees- adjacent to each other- reduce heights of both by 2m and reduce both crowns by 50%- causes excessive shading and no plants or grass can grow around them

Scots Pine (T1) - Remove The base of the tree is 110cm from the existing silver birch, with the result that over the years much of the growth overhangs our neighbours driveway at Chenies. Potential danger from branches falling onto their property. It has a low amenity value being an unexceptional specimen. Furthermore, the combined foliage with the silver birch creates excessive shading to the front of my property.
