What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

T1: Reduce Poplar in rear garden by approx 5-6m all over to create a smaller, balanced crown and minimise the risk of failure at compressed union at base of tree. Reduction of the crown will lessen lever forces on the union as well as reduce the wind resistance created by the crown. The L/H limb is heavily weighted towards the public footpath and is long enough reach right across it .

G1 & G2- there are 2 rows of mixed species trees, mainly Ash trees that are growing heavily over the rear garden. These are starting to form an archway over the garden not only closing the garden down and making the area dark but also covering solar panels making them work inefficient. We propose to cut back both rows of trees by 2.5-3m to open up the garden to retain current height and allow light onto the solar panels. The proposed lateral spread reduction would not affect the height of the trees and will leave the trees in a good state for regrowth. Ash trees are hardy trees so the minimal reduction of branches would not damage the trees. These trees cannot been seen from the road so would not damage the aesthetics of the area

T129 Larch requires emergency pruning due to excessive growth. The Larch ahs 3/4 branch that sre dangerously sagging. Lower branches require a heavy reduction to reduce the risk of failing on the property. Ash G37 needs dead branches removed and a light pruning to reshape and made safe for any passing person and reduce risk of any branches breaching telecommunications cable outthe front.
