Planning application

70 Valley Road Rickmansworth WD3 4BJ

Granted Three Rivers 20/1998/TPO Works to trees covered by a Tree Pres O

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T7 - Western Red Cedar - Lift crown height to 2.5 - 3m. T8 - (TPO T288) Cedar - 2-3m height reduction, 2m spread. Clean crown. - Species prone to failed limbs. Some have failed in the past. The reduction would be a preventative measure to prevent future failures. T9 - (TPO G79)2 x Birch - Remove Ivy reduce by 2m in height 1 x tree nearest Cedar. The Birch trees have grown up and through the Cedar tree (T8) They are now extended and leggy as a result and it would be prudent to reduce them in height.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

The 3 trees are all silver birch and I think they need to be removed as I am worried that if they are diseased it will spread to the two ones at the back that look healthy.
