Planning application

141 The Drive Rickmansworth WD3 4DJ

Granted Three Rivers 20/1907/DDD Dead, diseased or dangerous

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 Beech - The tree is extremely close to the property, knowing that Fagus trees are predominantly shallow rooted and that the tree has a high canopy acting like a sail, there are worries that one day its possible the tree could uproot and damage the house. The tree has also been recently exposed to fire damage, although minor with no immediate threat, we request to fell this tree to make things safer in the future for the resident.

Tree identification numbers are per Arboricultural Report and Tree Survey Data. I have used these as the relevant TPO 319 does not identify individual trees. The trees in (1) and (2) below are part of area A1 in TPO 319. The treework I want to carry out is: 1) Fell to ground level trees T13 (white poplar) and T12 (sycamore) as they are dead (T13) or diseased and decaying (T12). See recommendation from arboriculturist. ***As these are dead and dying trees we give you official 5 days notification of our intention to fell these trees as soon as practical.***** 2) Fell to ground level trees T15 (oak) and T16 (silver birch). These trees are leaning towards the house and therefore are a danger to the property, specifically a bedroom used by our grandchildren when they are staying with us. These four trees, as shown by the arboricultural report, are in a well established natural woodland area full of trees and shrubs. Therefore we request you do not require us to plant replacement trees. For information, We will do the following works on trees outside of TPO319: We will coppice trees T22 (ash) and T23 (beech) to a height of 0.6m above ground level. These are trees of low quality and poor form which are suppressed by adjacent trees. Coppicing them will also improve light allowing the perennials at the bottom of the garden to grow better. We will fell to ground level tree T10 (laburnum) as this is dead/dying and falling towards the driveway.

TPO760 T50 Mature oak tree has died. We request permission to remove all branches to just leave the main trunk. Over recent years the tree has been progressively later to come into leaf and earlier to lose its' leaves than the adjacent mature oak. This year the tree has not produced any leaves at all. A local tree surgeon, Tom from T's Trees has inspected the tree and does not believe the tree trunk to be hollow. Photo2 shows damage around the trunk, which may be related to the tree's death. This damage was there when the current owners moved in.
