Split decision Surrey Heath TWA/21/0079 Tree Works Application

Works: Trees

Part of this application was approved and part refused. The decision notice on the council portal sets out which is which.

Proposal

1)To reduce the large mature Oak tree to the front of property by approximately 2m removing any dead wood throughout the aerial canopy due fact that it is on a boundary by a public footpath it is close proximity to the house and the roots will be going underneath the driveway, a path and a street light. The tree has been pruned before 7 years ago and we would like to replicate the maintenance to keep the tree canopy and windsail down. We would like to remove any dead wood in the tree due to the face we have young children that occupy and use the garden in a regular basis and with the Health and Safety responsibly with the tree overhanging the public footpath and the road. 2)To remove the epicormic growth, the dead wood and the hyper extended branches to the Oak tree on the boundary with the neighbours as discussed on day of quotation. To carry out the work in a safe controlled manner suitable for the environment and to remove all of the arising's. 3)to reduce the silver birch in the rear garden by up to 2m

T1 Oak (Quercus robur) Crown reduce by 1 to 1.5m in places cutting back to suitable growth points to maintain a natural crown shape and form. Crown thin by 10 to 20% to reduce wind sail and density, removing crossing, rubbing and epicormic growth throughout the crown. Crown lift to approximately 2m above ground level, removing lower lateral limbs back to the trunk or a suitable growth point, to improve clearance. The current height is approximately 10 meters from ground level with a 6 meter radial spread. We will reduce in height by no more than 9 meters and radial spread will be reduced no more than 5 metres Works to be carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 (Tree Work Recommendations).

G16 - conifers - remove 2 x dead stems. T17 and T18 is to carry out a thorough dead wood of both trees, and conduct an aerial inspection of the trees structures to identify potential hazzards. If we discover any issues, for example broken limbs, rot pockets that are substantial (over 30% into a limb or union), excessively rubbing branches that have resulted in the lower branch having the cambium rubbed back to more than 20%, we would request that we remove these items as a matter of safety. We would also ask that we bring any over extending lateral branches back to the natural canopy line, in an attempt to prevent future limb failure. T19 - Oak - remove dead wood T20 - Acer - remove dead stem T21 - Norway Maple - Crown lift to 2.5m. G24 - Silver Birch -remove 2 dead top sections from group of 7.
