Granted Stockport DC/098716 Works To Trees Covered By A TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Stockport Council has received political approval to progress the design of new highways improvement scheme, funded by central governments City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement. The scheme includes the widening of Marple Road to the northwest to increase the carriageway and footway width, in order to extend the left turn lane onto Dooley Lane and improve the eastbound bus stop facilities. These works are subject to the approval of the Full Business Case by TfGM. Widening of the carriageway will require the removal of 14 and potential canopy lifting of 2 protected trees as detailed in the appended Arboricultural Impact Assessment. A copy of the AIA and supporting documents is appended to this application. TPO 1aE.

Ash (T5) - reduce crown by 50% to reduce area in the canopy as the tree has lost several limbs over the winter. Carrying out this work will reduce the possibility of the tree failing and causing damage to cars parked underneath in the car par and also to passers by as it is located next to and overhangs a public highway. Two Beech trees T36 and T37 in the plan. These Trees have been dead for a number of years and now pose a very significant risk to human life including my family and grand children. These dead trees need to be felled or all branches need to be removed. We are unable to replant new trees because these trees are within a few inches next to a brick wall, we can only replace them with normal garden plants. TPO 344W.
