What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

T1 - Pine Tree - 5m Significant and mature tree that is being crowded out by bolted Cherry. Removal of Cherry will enable this to grow unencumbered T2 - Cherry Tree - 4 m Removal of Cherry tree that the main trunk has died and subsequent sucker growth from stump has bolted straight up with not filling out. It is competing with a large, mature pine tree (T1) with the base of the Cherry tree less than 1m from the pine tree and Cherry regrowth is crowding the canopy of the pine tree. T3 - Camellia - 4m Reduction in height by 1.5m and shaping of the large shrub that has grown too large and crowding the pine tree also. HAR/CA15, TPO 19N.

Pine - removal - tree species is very big for narrow back garden location. Difficult species to crown reduce to control size / maintenance. Concidering the garden has an other established tree and smaller stock we felt the removal was justified if tree was replaced with something smaller. HAR/CA36.
