Proposal

First Tree - Oak - Reference 162W & Tree Number T41 This tree has not been attended to for some time and is now blocking light to the house and the garden. The previous owner (we have just purchased and moved into the property) applied for (and was granted) permission in mid 2019 but I believe the work may not subsequently have been carried out. That permission runs until July 2021 so I'm not sure if I need further permision. Anyway, we would like to do some crown thinning and some crown reduction so that the tree/the crown blocks less light to the house and garden. We would like to thin the crown by 30%. I believe that crown reduction is usually expressed in metres, but it is rather difficult for me to measure this without climbing the tree (which would be somewhat dangerous). What we want is simply to reduce/cut the branches/crown back to where they/it have previously been cut - that is, it is easy to see where it has previously been reduced/cut back to as there is a clear and defined limit around the whole crown where the branches closer to the trunk are somewhat thicker, have obviously been cut back previously and at a certain point then turn into much thinner and younger branches. Essentially we want to remove/reduce the younger branches back to the point of the end of the older/thicker branches, thereby replicating work previously done.     Reference: 162W Tree Number: T36 Species: Chilean Pine The Monkey Puzzle (Chilean Pine) is serious hazard. Firstly, the tree roots have already caused significant damage to the drive and are encroaching closer to the house so, left unresolved, I am worried they will have irreparable damage to the house foundations. I also do not know where the drains are positioned but if they can push up the brick driveway then I assume they could, and may already be causing damage to the drains. Secondly, and more importantly, the tree canopy is positioned right where we park our car. Big, dense branches are constantly falling down so they are a serious danger to our health and safety, particularly our young children. The branches are long and very heavy as they full of sharp, spikey leaves. The branches also fall onto the roof of the car causing scratches and dents. The plan is to remove the tree completely to solve both these dangerous issues. There is no plan to replace the tree as once there is more than 2 cars on the drive (this is the case when we have guests, carers, visit the house and will be a daily challenge as our children get older and have cars) it is impossible to turn the cars around resulting in us having to dangerously reverse onto a busy road (Bramhall Lane South).     We are seeking permission to prune back to previous pruning points 4 x mature lime trees and 1 x mature Holly tree . The last permission received was Oct/Nov 2021 ref; PP -09642189v2 and there was a system code of DC/080278. When we bought the property 35 years ago, the Lime trees had been subjected to historic pollarding, so the canopies are now extensive, and require regular attention. The trees now impact upon the levels of natural light to the front and side of our property, which in turn impacts upon the growth of our front lawn and our mature planting. The side tree on Earl Road is now touching our property and the scale of the canopies and associated shade, light levels and physical barrier to the pavement and road is also a security risk via our reduced openness and light. One Lime tree and the Holly tree on Parsonage Road are blocking the bus stop sign outside the front of our house and also impact on the safety pf people waiting at the bus stop. The front Lime trees make contact with the bus as it stops and passes our house. The Lime tree on the corner of Parsonage/Earl Road is obstructing the 20 mph road sign from drivers, which is a safety issue. The canopies of all the trees overhanging this junction has the potential to interfere with pedestrians. HAR/CA15, TPO 19N.
