TREE IDENTIFICATION - Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), rear garden, labelled T4 in the 2025 AIA. Recorded at 15.5 m height, DBH 440 mm, RPA 5.28 m; crown radii N/E/S/W = 6/6/4/6 m; comment: ?Trunk forks at 2 m, deadwood throughout crown.? SUMMARY - Sycamore (rear garden, ?T4?): Re-pollard to existing pollard heads to a final height of ~10.0 m; reduce laterals back to existing knuckles (final radial spreads N 3.2 m / E 3.2 m / S 3.0 m / W 3.2 m); remove deadwood =25 mm; works to BS3998:2010. - Contractor: Fenn?s Tree Care Ltd (competent, insured). Mark Fenn previously pollarded this sycamore and recommends re-pollard to ~10 m now. DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED WORKS Sycamore (T4): Re-pollard back to established pollard heads (restore prior pollard framework). Final height ~10.0 m (per contractor?s professional recommendation). Final radial spreads: N 3.2 m / E 3.2 m / S 3.0 m / W 3.2 m (prune only to existing knuckles; maintain balanced crown). No cuts below pollard heads or into primary scaffold. Remove deadwood - 25 mm. All pruning to BS3998:2010. REASONS FOR THE WORKS Cyclical size management of an already pollarded tree. Earlier survey records historic size control (crown reduced in past); the current AIA notes deadwood throughout crown??together supporting renewal of the pollard cycle now. Professional arborist opinion. Mark Fenn (Fenn?s Tree Care) previously pollarded the tree and recommends re-pollard to -10 m on a cyclical basis (letter attached). Construction sequencing/access. The approved garden room will leave -0.5 m side/rear clearance; Estate correspondence warns this may restrict future management?doing works before the build avoids ad-hoc pruning in constrained space. Railway viaduct interface (duty of care). Network Rail states trees on adjacent land are the landowners responsibility; owners have a legal duty of care to ensure trees do not endanger neighbours/infrastructure. Re-pollard reduces end-weight/leverage toward the bounda

T2761 - Apple - Pollard to crown break at 2.2m above ground level [poor structural condition]. "Dull sounding stem from ground level. Advanced decay in scaffold limbs and at crown break. Minimal residual wall at old pruning wounds. Reduced tree with onesided unbalanced canopy remaining, weighted towards the roadand over footpath. Epicormic regrowth is maturing since heavy reduction. If tree is to be retained it must be as a low pollard and managed on a short cycle. Consider pre-emptive removal."
