Planning application

22/AP/1462

Rylstone Grove Park London Southwark SE5 8LT

Granted Southwark Works to a Tree with a TPO

Proposal

REVISED SPECIFICATION: T1 - Large Oak tree, the canopy is very lopsided due to the historic proximity of adjacent trees, for the longer-term health of the tree and stability it would be good practice to reduce the crown to form a more compact specimen, crown reduce by 20% and weight reduce elongated limb by 3m. T2 - Lime tree opposite seating area and patio, tree is causing significant shading near patio, one of 4 lime trees, this tree is the only one to have not been maintained in line with the other 3. Pollard to height of G1. G1 - 3 Lime trees on boundary, routine maintenance, pollard to previous points. T3 - Remove camellia to ground level and grub out stump. T4 - Strawberry tree nearest drive and under Holly tree canopy. Remove to ground level and grub out stump which will give more space to appreciate the Holly and Cypress. T5 - Strawberry tree on RHS of garden, routine maintenance, crown reduce top of the canopy by 2m and reshape as required.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
