Refused Southampton 22/00012/TPO Tree Preservation Order

Works: Trees

Refused. Only the applicant can appeal, within the statutory time limit, and a revised scheme can be submitted instead.

Proposal

Turkey Oak - numbered 1 in the attached PLAN 1 reference document. Removal of all epicormic growth from the tree's main trunk up to the height of the first main branch, estimated to be 10m from the ground. Thin the tree's crown by 25% to allow more light to pass through the tree and reduce wind resistance. Reduce the crown of the tree by 5m in height and 6m in spread by pruning back to suitable growth points but retaining the tree's overall structure and framework.

T1 - Quercus cerris, Turkey oak - Remove two secondary limbs at appropriate pruning point as per BS 3998, 7.2.5 Figure 2. Please refer to Photo 1. Prune all other overhanging branches no more than 2 metres off in places. If only allowed to reduce the branches in line with the property boundary fence this would less but would be effectively terminating branches between growth points.
