  • P14/S4198/TCA Decided

Bavaria, Rectory Road, Great Haseley, Oxon

Conifers & Laurels & Cherry On the Recotry Road elevation there are some conifers behind the stone wall and then a run of laurels which run around the boundary with the adjacent cottage at no.6 Rectory Road. The owner of the cottage is about to start building an extension which will be close to the boundary. The conifers and laurels which have not been properly trimmed are pushing over the wall and the proposal is to remove them, rebuild the stone wall and then plant a more suitable laurel hedge behind the wall and introduce a specimen tree either side of the garage. The existing cherry tree along the boundary with No.7 Rectory Road now sits in the original ground with the reduced level of the drive around it leaving it in a rather vulnerable state. It is at the pinch point with the proposed dwelling and it is proposed to remove this tree and plant a new specimen tree further down towards Rectory Road where there is room to form a planting bed. T1 - Horse Chestnut in drive by gate T1 Horse Chestnut in drive by gate. Following our climbing inspection and recommendations to re-inspect the tree when in full leaf in 2014. The tree at this stage is thoughtto be significantly decayed in the main stem at 2.5m approx with a decay cavity extending up to 20cm in to the main trunk, with exudations below this point suggesting further decay around the cavity. Recommendation: Reduce crown 20% to reduce sail and help alleviate strain on decay cavity. Remarks:

    Britwell Hill, Britwell, Watlington, Oxon

T1 - Beech Tree T2 - Mature Oak T3 - Sycamore Tree T4 - Small Beech Tree T5 - Large Lime Tree T6 & T7 - Two mature Beech Trees T1 - Small damaged Beech Tree situated on the corner of a field on Britwell Hill - To fell to near ground level. Reason: The tree is damaged and requires felling for health and safety reasons. T2 - Leaning and one sided Mature Oak tree situated opposite Priest House - To reduce the canopy by approx 20% of crown volume and reshape to suitable points of secondary live growth as required to promote a more stable form. Reason: Tree becoming out of scale with location. T3 - Small self-sown leaning and one sided Sycamore tree adjacent to and below the canopy of the above Oak - To fell to ground level and remove resultant brush wood. To leave the useable cordwood cut into handable sections and stacked on site. Reason: Tree requires felling due to condition and location - health and safety reasons. T4 - Small Beech tree on roadside adjacent to the Gate Lodge - Tree has developed with a potentially unstable multi-stem form with acutely angled stem junctions and included bark. I therefore recommend that the two competing secondary stems be formatively pruned/reduced to give dominance to the most central stem and that the stems be further reinforced by the erection of a non-invasive cable brace system. All sections of significant deadwood to be removed and that the crown be lifted by the removal of the lowest three laterals. The two side stems to be reduced by approximately 2m. Reason: To bring back into scale - health and safety reasons. T5 - Large Lime Tree adjacdent to the Gate Lodge - The tree has developed with slightly leaning and out of balance crown form that has a weight bias towards the lodge. In order to improve structural stability I recommend that the crown be lightly reduced by approx 15% and reshaped to suitable points of secondary live growth. All sections of significant deadwood to be removed. Reason: to bring back into scale with location. T6 & T7 - Two mature and severely decay damaged Beech Trees on the opposite side of the drive adjacent to the above. To fell in sections to ground leve. To chip and remove all of the resultant brushwood. To cut all suitable log wood into handable lengths and stack on site. To remove the decayed main stems from site. Reason: These trees require felling due to condition and location - health and safety. Remarks:

T1 - Willow tree Dangerous willow tree on the Green at Little Haseley. After the storms it is now leaning far more during the last few days. It is over our main farm road which is used several times a day and it is also a public footpath. We own the land that it is on and the owenrs of an adjoining cottage are also extremely concerned. I would be grateful if you would give me permission to take it down as I have two men ready to do this today. I am really concerned about how unsafe it is and I am very nervous about keeping it much longer. Remarks: 2016 04 12 - Replacement response received -Salix alba Tristis (Chrysocoma
