  T1 - Lawson Cypress The tree is located in the churchyard adjacent to the entrance to the church extension entrance on the south side of the church. We are applying for permission to fell one Lawson Cypress and replace it with a suitable hardwood tree in another suitable location in the churchyard. The tree has grown very tall immediately adjacent to the entrance to the church extension creating a drak, unwelcoming canopy. It has seriously damaged at least one discerable gravestone and possibly more underneath. Pigeons occupy the branches over the church entrance with the obvious mess resulting! The tree now masks much of the view of the 12th century tower. The attached photographs show its proximity to the church. The vicar and congregation are very worried about cracking that has been found in the church tower, so in addition to the very overbearing gloomy aspect created by the tree there is genuine concern that its roots may be harming the church.
