What this refusal means

South Oxfordshire refused this application for the reasons on the decision notice; only the applicant can appeal, and refused schemes often return in revised form. More in our guide to what happens after a planning decision.

About householder applications

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden, such as extensions, lofts and outbuildings, and cannot create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. More in our guide to planning application types.

T1 - Cherry T2 - Birch There are two trees in our small terrace garden and each is contributing to: - fracturing our boundary wall and making it unstable (a danger to people both within our property and those who regularly use the alley behind it - we have a young child and there are lots of children in our neighbouring properties). - cracking flagstone paving resulting in very uneven and treacherous surface throughout the garden - again a danger to our daughter. - potentially threatening sewerage pipes The large cherry's roots have encroached on our neighbours' properties and damaged flagstones, threatening their walls also. The cherry also causes excessive shading and drops messy fruit in our garden (dangerous for our young toddler) and our neighbours' gardens. A number of our neighbours have asked if we can remove the trees. We have noticed that while we have not been at home, branches have been removed by our neighbours (without our permission). A) Cherry - fell because of damage to boundary wall and threat to neighbouring walls, excessive shade and mess. B) Birch - fell because of location right alongside the boundary wall of the property with roots causing the wall to crack and bow. Remarks:
