  Beech No. 4497 - fell - tall tree with high crown close to building. Water pipe at base. Slow growth in crown. Previously noted as possibly affected by building works. Fungal fruit body of Ganoderma resinaceum at base on east side in 2017. Previous concerns about this tree, isolated position and large size close to building. Decay of trunk is now a signficant concern. G. resinaceum decay is usually centred in the roots and is more destructive than other species of Ganoderma. Additional investigations are unlikely to provide useful information due to likely locaiton of decay low down in centre of root system. Decay likely to be progressive. Oak No. 4499 - near rear of building. Large tree in corner of woodland, close to building and overhanging path. Was ivy covered by ivy has been severed. Crown very sparse at top and some dieback and deadwood. Extensive bark wound on southwest side of lower trunk. Condiiton of upper crown is now a cause of concern due to gradual dieback and deadwood but the tree is likely to respond well to reduction surgery. Recommendation work - reduce crown height by approximatley 4-5m to leave final crown height of 17m and spread of approximately 5m.
