  T1 - is a large over mature Poplus sp with a DBH of 1.3m located at OS grid ref 587740570. From the audible echo acoustics listened to after the tree was tapped with a rubber mallet it is believed that the base of this tree is hollow. The flexible grabber was inserted into an open cavity at the base of the tree until at least 16" of it were inside of the tree and an amount of discoloured heart wood was extracted the discolouration and powdery texture of the heart wood would indicate that the tree is subject to some form of internal basal decay. Tree 2 - is a large over mature Poplus sp with a DBH of 1m located at OS grid ref 5876905698. The tree has obvious fluting at the base and also has heavy Honeysuckle (Lonicera sp) infestation from the base to approx 9m. Similar to tree 1 this specimen created very conclusive acoustics when tapped with the rubber mallet and it is believed that the extent of the basal decay cavity is to at lesat 2.5m from ground level. Tree 3 - is a large over mature Poplus sp with a DBH of 1.1m located at OS gridref 5877005697. Like its neighbours Trees 1 and 2 this specimen was tap tested at the base and again the acoustics suggest the base is hollow. Tree 4 - again is a large over mature Poplus sp with a DBH of 1.2m located at OS grid ref 5877405696. It was noted that this tree has significant deadwood in the crown. This tree was tap tested and the acoustics present that it is hollow at the base. It also has an open cavity at the base to which the flexible grabber was inserted into and like Tree 1 discoloured and brittle powdery heart wood was extracted from it. Having subjected the trees to a thorough visual inspection, analysis of the basal decay and review the recent failure of the neighbouring Poplar tree it was concluded that if any of the Poplus sp trees failed from the property of 26 Barlow Close, Wheatley there would be a high potential for damage to persons or property which could have catastrophic effect thus the recommendation is to fell all four trees.   Poplar tree in south-west corner of the garden. During the storm of Thursday 23 February the Poplar tree in the south west corner of our garden came down. It is the end tree in a line of Poplar trees that run behind Barlow Close, and at the rear of Coopers Close, Wheatley. Over the years this tree has discharged branches, some quite large which could be dangerous but we have always been told that it could not come down due to TPO. The tree fell part across our garden damaging our fence and garden shed, but also across the public footpath that runs behind Barlow Close. It was lucky that nobody was on the path when it came down.   Poplar trees, old railway line, adjacent to Coopers Close, not within property boundary. 1. Clear ground of weeds at 1 Coopers Close. This will cover the root protection area. Weeds killed with spray so only surface soil scaping. Additional matter was added above natural soil level when house was constructed. 2. Erect shed: lay concrete base within tree root protection area. Seeking advice on considerations to ensure does not affect water availability to those protected trees.
