  T13 - Western Red Cedar T14 - Cypress The two trees next to one another (T13 & T14) have been discussed between myself and Philip Collings as we agree the lower canopys are getting too long and are overhanging the road. Cause for concerns are that residents cars are being scratched and high HGV vehicles (bin lorries) are driving in the middle of the road to avoid the trees. My control method to help improve the problem would be to lift the canopy by 10 ft incrasing headroom and vehicle access. I also suggested to spread any woodchippings under the trees afterwards as the ground is bare and since grass cant grow underneath, it would leave a nice finish after we lift the trees. Residents privacy has been considered, therefore with a 10 ft canopy lift, neighbours would still have a screen. Would a 10 ft canopy lift on both trees be ok to do?

  T13 & T14 - As discussed with local residents and the parish council T13 & T14 are tall and wide creating lots of shade and block the sun from gardens around. The trees are healthy and are at no risk of falling over from what I can see from my professional background, the trees are well rooted and there are no signs of die back anywhere. To help sunlight access residents gardens and reduce any risk to the trees blowing over, I'm asking consent to reduce the two trees in height by 5 m and to hedge trim/shape the trees leaving a tidy natural finish to the trees. Even by hedge trimming the trees it will promote sunlight into near gardens. Please see photos attached for proposed height reduction.

  Attend site to look at possibility of removal or reduction of 2 x Conifers to the rear of the property. These trees are situated on raised ground which leads to a significant shade arc being cast across the garden. As discussed, any reduction will be unlikely to improve the situation and possibly be of detriment to the trees going forward as a number of included and multiple stems already exist a reduction will compound these issues leading to increased likelihood of failure. There is a possibility of damage to foundations to rear wall and garage over time, no evidence of this has been observed at present. Therefore removal would be the most practical solution going forward providing the council agree the proposal.
