  Introduction - Since this tree has become subject of a TPO in 2010, we have applied and been allowed to undertake 1 trimming. We are now at a point where we realize that this is not a realistic strategy and we are now applying to remove the tree. Background - We have lived as a family for over thirty years in North Moreton and during this time we have been fortunate enough to be able to develop our garden and improve our immediate environment. As an advocate of the Permaculture principle, we have planted trees to provide shelter from westerly winds at distances from our house tht we can appreciate and enjoy. To date wwe have added 18 trees, all of which are at least 20 ft tall, to the existing 8 large trees which were present when we moved to Springbank. Our garden borders farming land, which is a green desert, on the rear boundary of our garden, we can sight large trees only on the horizon. Reasons for re-applying - We have now got to the end of our tether living immediately next to this tree. - we have had advice from an arboriculturist that the tree is sound, but as a chartered engineer, in my opinion this does not constitute formal evidence that would be available from a structural analysis (which would be required if a building the size and weight of the walnut tree was to be built on the plot). - after our last pruning, the tree has continued to grow at a very vigorous rate and is now overhanging the house. We are now near to retirement and I fear the scale of costs required from professional tree surgeons. - we had, in 2010, support from the Parish Council and our two neighbours. Again, if the tree fell down, or shed a large branch, there are serious safety issues, both to our house and to our neighbour immediately on our northern boundary. - the showers of male flowers, leaves and bird droppings on our house, gutters and patios require considerable, often daily, effort to get rid of. - I don't want to get to a stage where we are only allowed to remove the tree, once we have structural damage to our foundations. I would like to solve the problem now and not wait for damage to occur; ie.e no 'car crash' management. I hope you and the Council wil glean from this application that we are in desperate need to find a resolution to the problem. We are more than happy to replant a more suitable tree. We have already planted a child of the existing tree, further from the house, which is now 15 ft tall and bearing fruit. I trust that you will give this application your most serious attention and would implore you to see this as now a wholly technical matter, but something of great importance to us as long term Oxfordshire residents.
