Proposal

Large Horse Chestnut tree - the tree appears to be in generally good condition with no signs of Bleeding Canker. Given that the tree was inspected during the dormant season the canopy could not be inspected for Leaf Minor or Leaf Blotch. It was noted that several sections of outgrown lateral limbs have recently broken and fallen from the mid canopy. Given that a significant proportion of the west side of the canopy overhangs the adjacent access road further such stem failures have significant implications for the health and safety of traffic using this access way. In order to improve the stability of the canopy sections I recommend that the tree be reduced by approximately 15% of crown volume, reducing the upper more upright sections by approximately 2.5m and the most over-extended laterals by up to 4m, as required to promote a more evenly balanced and rounded canopy outline. All sections of significant deadwood to be removed and central live growth to be lightly thinned by removing rubbing or crossing growth.
