Proposal

This application regards two oak trees in our back garden. We have submitted a previous approved application to remove a damaged branch from one of these trees, see application 2511. Joe Smith came to site and examined the tree. He noted at the time that in addition to the damaged branch (which has caused a 2m + split running down the trunk of the tree) there was also a lot of dead wood in the main canopy of the tree and he raised the issue of potential rot at the base of the main tree where another significant branch had been removed many years ago leaving a secondary stump which is now rotting. Taking Joe's expertise into consideration and the fact that once the damaged branch is removed the resulting scar to the tree trunk will be very large and the weight of the remaining tree will be predominantly in the direction of ours and our neighbours house we would like to remove this tree and replant another oak tree further back in the garden. We have taken advice from two independent tree surgeons who both concurred with Joe's advice. The second tree is much smaller and is situated a few metres away from the other oak tree in this application. This tree is not in good condition and having been crowded out by the larger tree. It has a lot of deadwood including a large dead branch overhanging our neighbours property (see photos enclosed) We would like to remove this tree and feel that rather than replanting another oak tree, given the space restrictions, it would be more appropriate to replant holly below the canopy of the new oak tree.
