This old Cherry has been further weakened and given its unusual proximity to the house, now threatens the house (safety). Hornbeam x 9 - reduce crown height by approx 2m to significantly reduce the threat of failure and to maximise natural light. I wish to gain council approval to carry out a crown reduction on 9 Hornbeam trees. The trees were planted as a hedge, but have been left to form into mature trees. There are a number of cavities (highlighted in pics) and tight buttresses with included bark evident. They stand around 11 metres with minor deadwood evident, otherwise showing normal vigour. My client considers them to have a high amenity value and wants them managed. By reducing the height of the crowns this will reduce the threat of failure and increase natural light throughout the garden. All cuts will leave sufficient live growth and where necessary target pruned.
