Proposal

The larger of the two trees (T1) has had branch failures in the past as noted by the neighbouring property. At approximately 3 metres from ground level is a compression fork with included bark and bulge present. To the east is the adjacent beech (T2) which has suppressed the growth of T1 on the east side, therefore T1 also has an asymmetric crown. It should be noted that T1 appears to have no notable pruning history and some maintenance would be suggested to minimise the risk to public/residents and property. T2 is in a good condition however the root flare is buried. T2 also shares the same crown space as T1 and should be treated as a whole. Due to the noted defect within T1 it is suggested to crown reduce approximately by 1.5m and a light crown lift to approximately 6m above ground level to allow more light in surrounding gardens. T2 would then be pruned to match the height of T1. All pruning cuts made will be to suitable growth points. After pruning works are completed it is suggested to monitor the progress of the compression fork annually. It is also suggested that the pruning works need to be unertaken as soon as possible as it would not be advisable to prune at leaf fall due to the trees having low energy levels to heal.
