Rotherfield Road, Henley on Thames, Oxon
Diseased Lime tree standing to the front boundary of Balmaha identified as T8 in the web comment dated 4 July 2017 to planning application P17/S1085/FUL - 4 by Forestry Officer MDG (SODC) and identified on attached plan "Tree T8 Location and Replacement Trees Location and Specification 1".Tree T8 is a common Lime Tree and subject to a TPO. However, T8 is colonised by the decay causing fungi Ganoderma applanatum and following a resistograph test and investigation by arbor specialists Gristwood & Toms and inspection by SODC and OCC Tree Officers it has been concluded that T8 has a limited safe remaining life expectancy and should be felled. This work will be carried out by specialist firm Foremost Tree Surgeons and all necessary permits and licences will be obtained prior to works being carried out to the tree T8. Once dismantled, the T8 stump will be ground down and all debris branches and shavings will be removed from site by the contractor and the site left clean safe and tidy. 2 no. replacement trees Common Lime will be hand planted in the positions marked on Plans 'Tree 8 Location and Replacement Trees Location & Specification 1' and 'Replacement Trees Location 2'. The size of the replacement Common Lime are to be confirmed by the Tree Officer and to be either standards girth 12-14 cm or heavy standards girth 16-18 cm. The replacement trees will be hand dug and planted to with a slow release fertilizer and well watered in and the root balls secured using Platipus rootball fixing system Plat-Mat RF1P. The root balls will be fitted with GreenBlue RootRain Urban RRURB1A irrigation systems and the applicant undertakes to ensure that both trees are kept sufficiently watered during the first two spring/summer seasons from the date of planting. Thereafter it will be the responsibility of OCC Highways to maintain the new trees. The applicant requests that the Tree Officer mark the position for the 2nd replacement tree on the attached plan "Replacement Trees Location 2". T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
