About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

T1 - Beech T1 - Beech - fell because it is creating too much shade and is getting too large for a domestic garden sitting. I have agreed with the neighbour, who also is overly shaded by the tree. Our local tree surgeon advised that it was not practicable to reduce the crown size, and recommended felling and replacing with a smaller less shading tree. Replacement tree type is yet to be decided - possibly silver birch or pear. Remarks:

T1 - Western Cedar T2 - Cow's tail Pine T3 - Walnut T4 - Sycamore T5 - Silver Birch Walnut Tree (T3) - raise crown to min clearance of 1.8m from ground to prevent injury to homeowners during mowing lawn and general use of garden space. Western Cedar (T1) - general pruning, crown thinning to reduce canopy proportionally to reduce excessive shading. Cow's Tail Pine (T2) - fell entire tree due to being somothered by neighbouring T1 & T3, currently very unsightly and unable to flourish in this location. Also causes excessive shading to neighbouring property. Sycamore (T4) - crown thinning to reduce overhang onto public highway. Silver Birch (T5) - crown thinning to reduce overhang on to public highway. Remarks:
