Planning application

12 St Marks Road, Henley on Thames, Oxon, RG9 1JL

Decided South Oxfordshire P15/S4394/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

An apple tree in rear garden. An Apple tree in the rear garden half way down the strip garden on the left hand side. The tree is heavily leaning and has been supported with a timber and metal brace to keep it from falling. The tree is screened by neighbouring shrubs, a brick wall and a trellis and is not viewed from neighbouring properties or a dominant specimen to the garden. The tree, smallish in size 8ft-12ft has been heavy pruned previously and in my opinion has limited architectural merit. Whilst in the first instance we would seek to retain the tree and carry out a heavy reduction to the crown I would consider it likely that the tree is best removed and a new specimen planted. T1: Birch: Twin stemmed Birch with a crown break a couple of feet above ground level. This tree has had cobra bracing installed and has previously had a crown reduction undertaken due to the applicants concerns over its safety with its close proximity to their own and neighbouring properties and the high volume of pedestrians who walk past the house particularly during the school pick up and drop off timings. The applicant wishes to reduce the height of the tree by 4 metres, to a point just above the previous pruning points and the lateral branches by up to 1 metre. T2, T3 and T4: Birch: Applicant wishes to carry out a 2m crown reduction of all 3 trees. These trees were planted by the applicant on the basis that they would be maintained as small trees owing to the size of space in this area of the garden and the proximity of buildings.

  • P26/S3994/TCA Decided

    7 Vicarage Road Henley-on-thames RG9 1HF

There are two trees in the front garden Permission is requested to fell both trees. Tree 1 = Weeping Birch Tree Tree 2 = Maple Tree Weeping Birch (Tree 1) This has become too large for the site, the roots are lifting the paving around it, making it a trip hazard. Roots have also entered the nearby drains, causing problems. Permission is sought to fell the tree, to make safe access to the property and to make space on the driveway for off street parking. (There is a nearby primary school, and parking can be a challenge.) Maple (Tree 2) This tree has also become too big for its location, which is very close to the boundary of No. 5 and No. 7 Vicarage Rd, causing lifting of the paving around it. It is also very close to both houses. Permission is sought to fell this tree.
