Planning application

Nuns Acre, Goring, Oxon

Refused South Oxfordshire P14/S4615/TPO Works to TPO

Works: Trees

Refused. Only the applicant can appeal, within the statutory time limit, and a revised scheme can be submitted instead.

Proposal

T10 - Western Red Cedar. Undertake small (10-15%) canopy reduction to remove weight of outermost parts of the canopy (see attached recommendation from Sylva Consultancy). Also the River Gardens Directors seek permission to remove the low lateral branch (see photo 2) which presents a Health & Safety hazard to residents and visitors. The Directors are concerned that because of this hazard they are unable to perform their duty of care in accordance with the River Gardens Insurance.

T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
