Planning application
Chiltern Rise, Reading Road, Woodcote
Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
Sycamore - west garden of this property. It is semi mature and about 40 ft in height. The tree is covered in ivy almost reaching the tips of the leaders. There is a large old wound at its base where a stem has been removed in the past. The tree has a lean towards the building on the property and is forward of the natural woodland boundary. I imagine the tree is self-sown and holds little wildlife value and no amenity value. For these reasons I suggested felling the sycamore as it is close to the property and hold no real value. There are many Sycamore in the surrounding area and its limited habitat is present elsewhere. W2 Pine, Lime, Beech, Ash, Sycamore Spec: S15 Fell tree to ground level. Reason: R2 To ensure future compatibility with site, surroundings and usage Reason: R5 Limited amenity value

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
