Planning application

The Street, Crowmarsh Gifford, Oxon

Decided South Oxfordshire P14/S4579/TPO Works to TPO

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T5 - Ash - thin crown by maximum of 30% retaining an even density of foliage throughout a well spaced and balanced branch structure. Remove any deadwood. Lift crown to a height of 4m above ground level by removing branches back to source - particularly on the side that overhangs into the garden of 71 The Street, T6 - Ash (as T1). To attempt to improve the level of light that filters through the trees to the garden of 71 The Street. A meeting with the Tree Officer on site would be appreciated as the owner of the trees (Mr Derbyshire) is anxious not to do any work to the trees that may reduce the level of screening that these trees afford him. The work outlined above is considered to be appropriate in terms of good arboricultural management and to gain the increase in light that 71 The Street desires. T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
