Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
T1 - Ash T1 - Ash - located on boundary adjacent to cricket club. Previously pruned and now starting to encroach onto thatch. Some deadwood present throughout crown. As a species ash has the capacity to grow into a large specimen. This tree in particular could potentially cause problems to the house and thatch if allowed to grow to its full potential. Therefore a pruning regime should be implemented to help abate future problems and to keep the tree in harmony with its surroundings. Thin/reduce by 15% by removing up to 1.5 metres of apical and lateral growth. Remove to source lowest limb growing over lawn (approx 4") and adjacent limb (approx 3"). Ensure 2.5 metres clearance from building and thatch. Remarks:

T1 - Ash T2 - Ash T3 - Horse Chestnut T4 - 2 x Pine T5 - Ash T1 - Ash tree in corner of garden opposite number 7. Remove major deadwood over 50mm in diameter and girdle ivy on main trunk to 1m to allow inspection of base. Inspect unions and cavities. T2 - Ash by rear garage. Tree appears to be in decline. Remove major deadwood over 50mm in diameter, raise canopy over garage to give 1-1.5m clearance. Reduce upper section over garage by 2-2.5m to balance crown. T3 - Horse Chestnut. Assymetric canopy. Raise canopy over garage to give 1-1.5m clearance, reduce canopy over road by 1-1.5m to mitigate wind loading and balance crown in anticipation of the eventual removal of the declining Ash that forms a combined canopy with this tree. T4 - 2 x Pine trees to rear of property to remove sections of major deadwood over 50mm in diameter. T5 - Ash adjacent to 13/14 Bell Lane. Remove sections of major deadwood over 50mm in diameter, reduce tree overall by 1-1.5m from top and 1.5-2m from sides equating to a 30% foliar reduction. Tree has reached a size where it is becoming out of scale with its surroundings and is starting to displace the historic boundary wall. Remarks:

T1: Birch: Twin stemmed Birch with a crown break a couple of feet above ground level. This tree has had cobra bracing installed and has previously had a crown reduction undertaken due to the applicants concerns over its safety with its close proximity to their own and neighbouring properties and the high volume of pedestrians who walk past the house particularly during the school pick up and drop off timings. The applicant wishes to reduce the height of the tree by 4 metres, to a point just above the previous pruning points and the lateral branches by up to 1 metre. T2, T3 and T4: Birch: Applicant wishes to carry out a 2m crown reduction of all 3 trees. These trees were planted by the applicant on the basis that they would be maintained as small trees owing to the size of space in this area of the garden and the proximity of buildings.

There are two trees in the front garden Permission is requested to fell both trees. Tree 1 = Weeping Birch Tree Tree 2 = Maple Tree Weeping Birch (Tree 1) This has become too large for the site, the roots are lifting the paving around it, making it a trip hazard. Roots have also entered the nearby drains, causing problems. Permission is sought to fell the tree, to make safe access to the property and to make space on the driveway for off street parking. (There is a nearby primary school, and parking can be a challenge.) Maple (Tree 2) This tree has also become too big for its location, which is very close to the boundary of No. 5 and No. 7 Vicarage Rd, causing lifting of the paving around it. It is also very close to both houses. Permission is sought to fell this tree.
