Decided South Oxfordshire P14/S4383/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T3 Willow Tree No. T3 Willow Inspection report carried out on 23 July 2014 following the removal of a failed limb. A large cavity in the main bole at approximaely 4 metres from ground level extends into stem approximately 40cm horizontally. Soft white rot and debris is present in the cavity and the decay pocket possibly extends upwards to the attachment area of the recently failed limb. Residual wall of un-decayed wood approximately 10-15cm thick remains around circumference of main stem supporting the crown. Some major deadwood throughout the crown, some minor cavities on other limbs, not thought to be of structural significance at present. Low lateral over garden appears to have a growth bulge indicating potential internal decay, heavily weighted and now exposed to a different dynamic, due to loss of large limb. Fell to ground level. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
