Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
1 x Fraxinus excelsior 1 x Fraxinus excelsior - at approximately 28-30m in height this mature, shelter belt perimeter tree displays fair to reasonable vitality. The tree features a birfurcation at 6m and the canopy displays some over development on the north-east. At the time of my visit, there was a significant bird-dropping issue throughout the back garden. The objective would be to reduce the over-extended lateral growth by 2-2.5m, ultimately, balancing the entire tree and reducing overhang. Pruning much harder may cause decay ingress. Works will require specialist rigging as there is an oil tank below. Remove dead, dying and diseased wood. Canopy thin by 5-10%, lightly reducing some canopy sail. I would suggest that whilst we climb, a survey is carried out with particular reference to inspecting the bifurcation and further inspecting the basal area too. Remarks:

Six stems of Lawson Cypress Conifer. Six stems of Lawson Cypress conifer. Fell due to damage to existing boundary wall and very low amenity value. The conifers were originally planted as a hedge but have overgrown (see Photo 1). The roots and stems have caused damage to the valued brick and flint wall which has collapsed in places (see photo 2 & 3). Felling required to gain access to rebuild the wall and to prevent re-occurrence of damage. Replant with a mixture of evergreen and deciduous shrubs in keeping with the pleasing nature of the garden (See report from Ken Earle). NB. Property is listed. Remarks:

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
