Planning application

34 High Street, Nettlebed, Oxon, RG9 5DD

Decided South Oxfordshire P14/S4280/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T1 - Yew tree Removal of a Yew tree in the garden of No.34 High Street. The tree has overgrown its location and massively overhangs a public thoroughfare used by children to and from school and everyone visiting the doctors surgery. The tree blocks light to the footpath and neighbouring village club and the fallen berries cause a nuisance to all passer-bys. There are numerous complaints of berries stuck to shoes and people slipping. This is one Yew tree of a group of three, and is the one that overhangs the footpath. The other two are fine. Remarks:

T1 - Yew T2 - Yew Fell two Yew trees located close to the pavement outside the village hall. The trees have 40% die back due to their age and poor positioning next to the A4130. They are regularly hit/trimmed by high-sided vehicles giving the trees an odd shape. They also drop foliage and fruit onto the pavement causing a slip hazard. They have outgrown their posiiton. Due to the close proximity to the road it is not recommended to replant. Remarks:

Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
