Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
T1 - Horse Chestnut T2 - T6 - Cherries T1 - Horse Chestnut Crown reduction, the crown of the tree spreads across the width of the garden and across most of the neighbouring garden (No.35) and this causes excessive shade. Proposal, current height approx 45 feet high, reduce crown to approx 20 feet high. The spread to be reduced by 50%. T2 - T6 Cherries Felling of all five Cherries due to overcrowding and close proximity to each other. There are a number of other mature trees in the garden and due to the narrow width of the land between the boundaries these take up much of the sunlight preventing any chance of plant and lawn growth. Proposal, in replacement of the cherries, a plan to plant a weeping silver birch in the same location. Email received 18.6.14 with amended details: Further to the above application and after taking your advice I would now request you now consider the removal of the horse chestnut tree. As advised the maximum reduction of 3 metres is insufficient due to the current size/height. This will still continue to spread wide across the garden and prevent any sunlight to the ground and therefore preventing the growth of grass. In addition there is the concern of the continued maintenance as in the long run this could become quite costly. In replacement of this a couple of fruit trees would be planted that would be more manageable to maintain. Remarks:

The two Ash trees were growing in and next to mature Willow in neighbouring garden which has recently fallen .As a result they have grown tall and thin. Therefore we request TG1 Ash - reduce the trees by up to 4.5m to help reduce the sail effect and leverage at the stem base. When neighbouring Willow fell it also snapped off our Silver Birch at approx 2 metres from ground level as shown in fallen tree photo. The Goat Willow - T1 in need of crown reduction/pollard to maintain a safe and manageable size in the current space. Advice has been given by a professional tree surgeon and a quote for the work has been provided.

2 x Ash The two Ash trees were growing next to mature Leylandii in the neighbouring garden which have recently been removed. As a result they have grown tall but thin trunks with no lower branches, the worry is that they will become unstable in strong winds. We wish to remove approximately 3m from the tops. Remarks:

1 x Willow The Willow has one of the three main trunks currently leaning at an angle over the neighbouring property. It is currently being supported by a strong ratchet strap. The roots look fairly shallow and can be seen moving as the wind blows this trunk. Remarks:

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
