What happens while it is decided
The process from here
This application is with South Downs National Park for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.
The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

This proposal seeks to replace the utility room with a new 28M2 extension that houses both a dining space and kitchen, with better proportions and connections back to the original house. The 16m2 terrace area is retained and accessed from the original first floor door. Minor alterations to the immediate terrace area adjacent to the new extension are proposed that work with the existing site levels. The existing pond in its current shaded spot is to be remodelled.

T1 - Beech - reduce canopy with an overall reduction of 3-4m comprising of a radial reduction of 1.5 -2m to previous reduction points. Lateral branches encroaching buildings to be reduced by up to 3m. Final pruning cuts to be no greater than 50 mm. (Amended) This tree is becoming too large for the area in which it was planted. It is hitting the house and outbuilding either side of the tree. The owners are keen to retain the tree but feel heavily reducing it now would result in more sympathetic management in the future.
