The process from here

This application is with Somerset for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About householder applications

How this application type works

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden: extensions, loft and garage conversions, porches, outbuildings and similar alterations within the boundary of the home. They cannot be used to create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. Councils aim to decide them within eight weeks, and immediate neighbours are usually notified and given a chance to comment.

Notification of intent to Fell No. 2 Trees, Carry out Tree Surgery works to No. 2 Trees and Removal of Mixed Hedging within a Conservation Area. T1 - Walnut tree - Carry out a 2 metre overall reduction on crown. T1 on plan. T2 - Yew and Cypress Trees - both trees are built in close proximity of the listed wall and railings which attaches to Hurst Bow Bridge which is also listed. The root structure of the trees are pushing out the low level wall against the pavement. We have noticed significant movement within this wall in recent time. This is only going to get worse and therefore are proposing for the trees to be removed. The wall can then be repaired to maintain existing listed wall. Large section of mix species hedge to be removed due to it being overgrown, unattractive and full of brambles. In lieu of this hedging and the Yew & Cypress trees, we would like to firstly install a fence for privacy, but also plant new laurel hedging to both sides of the fence so that in time the fence can be removed and an established and maintained hedge is left. This would ensure the street scene is unchanged. We would look to buy established laurel plants so that this creates a visible hedging from the outset. H1 on plan. T3 - laurel - adjacent to mix species hedging. Reduce laurel by approximately 50% in size, mainly to the garden side. Lightly reduce on the river side to keep some foliage present, to reduce the change to the street scene and maintain privacy into our garden. AMENDED SPECIFICATION 16.07.26 T1 - Radial reduction of 1-1.5m in accordance with BS3998.
