Planning application

RU.26/0689

Lynwood Woodham Park Way Woodham Surrey KT15 3SA

Granted Runnymede Trees

Proposal

As per TPO 2000 no. 307, one of the beech trees identified as G1 The tree is clearly dying and branches have been breaking off in recent years. Work has been done to remove individual dead branches in the past in line with permitted work. Now the tree is in leaf, it is apparent that a large proportion of the tree is diseased and there are numerous dead branches of considerable size, some of which overhang Woodham Park Way and telephone cables, which is extremely hazardous and potentially dangerous. We have consulted a tree surgeon who has advised that the tree should be removed as soon as possible. We would like to replant, possibly with a Roman.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Pine - Fell & Remove - to ground level, or as close as possible and remove all arisings. Reasons for work as follows: Safety - angle of tree encroaching fencing and house, shedding pine cones etc are sharp ground hazards for children when in garden Space / lighting - the shedding needles etc are preventing grass or anything else from growing in our garden. Would ideally like to plant other tree(s) in the space which are more in keeping with the other trees in the space.

T1 - Birch - fell and stump grind - tree in very poor condition: A large basal cavity extending well into the buttress/root flare. Advanced decay with soft, crumbly wood, likely white rot. Strong callus growth around the wound, showing the tree has been trying to compartmentalise the defect for a while. Epicormic shoots emerging from the base, which can be a stress response. As such the tree is now a likely risk for basal failure. Tree will be replaced with another Birch
