T1 - Lawson Cypress - fell to ground level - the root system has extended beyond the property boundary and is causing significant uplift to the public footway adjacent to the property. This presents a potential trip hazard to pedestrians and has the potential to expose the property owner and highway authority to ongoing maintenance and liability issues. Due to the species, size and proximity of the tree to the highway, the root growth is expected to continue, resulting in further damage. Pruning the roots is unlikely to provide a sustainable solution and may compromise the structural stability and health of the tree. Felling the tree is therefore considered the most appropriate long-term solution to prevent further damage to the public highway and eliminate the risk to public safety. Replanting in this location would be inappropriate due to the reasons above.
