Planning application

Ten Acres Chobham Road Ottershaw Surrey KT16 0QB

Granted Runnymede RU.23/1022 Trees

Works: Trees Small domestic

Read from the description, not a valuation. How we read the register

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

The works to be carried out include the felling and removal of 17 semi-mature woodland individuals, including x3 Sweet chestnuts, x2 beech, x5 silver birch, x3 sycamore, x3 holly & x1 ash with trunk diameters of between 200mm and 350mm, as detailed in the submitted arboricultural method statement and tree works plan submitted with this application (SJA ams + apps 20366-01a). The proposed removal of 17 trees is to facilitate the installation of a private security fence under permitted development rights along the ownership curtilage of Ten Acres, Cobham Road, Ottershaw and to prohibit access and trespass across the site, which currently occurs on a regular basis. The trees to be removed have been chosen as they are the smaller and inessential components of the woodland; their location conflicts with the ownership boundary and proposed security fence alignment; and whose removal would not alter the character of the woodland in which they stand or the local area. To further avoid the impact upon the TPO'd woodland, where significant trees which do contribute to the character of the woodland would conflict with the proposed fencing alignment, this has been altered to avoid removals and to minimise impact upon roots and rooting environment, in addition to the submitted arboricultural methodology to further minimise the impact on retained trees by the fencing installation. Proposed planting is not included as the proposed removal of the 17 trees, inessential to the woodland, will be mitigated by natural succession of the existing woodland.

    71 A Harpesford Avenue Virginia Water Surrey GU25 4RG

T1 - Oak at front - fell - tree has Acute Oak Decline (AOD) The tree is in advanced decline, almost dead, due AOD evidenced by weeping exudates on the main stem and progressive and advanced canopy dieback monitored over 5+ years. Structural integrity and vitality are now significantly compromised. Given its proximity to the dwelling and highway (high target occupancy), retention presents an unacceptable foreseeable risk of failure and liability under duty of care obligations. Felling is therefore justified on arboricultural safety grounds.
