-
R21/0783 Granted
38, LONGROOD ROAD, RUGBY, CV22 7RE
Silver Birch T1 - Fell Reason - T1 over the last few years has dropped several branches onto clients car and roof. The owner is scared of his young daughters safety due to branches dropping previously. The tree itself isn't the best of specimens, with from ground level looks like its had some work previously done not to the best of standards. The tree is also in my opinion too big for the front garden and is now shading out all front rooms. I have spoken to the client about replacing the tree with something more suitable and he is happy to replant with something either your choice or myself. The client is doing this as a last resort but feels no other option. Reducing the tree would be pointless as the crown is thin and you'd be unable to make it look presentable.

62, LIME TREE AVENUE, RUGBY, CV22 7QT
T1 Lime at front of property, part of the run of avenue trees, tree has extensive basal decay which has hollowed the stem and has two openings in the lower stem. Decay at this extent even though the tree is relatively well sheltered is a concern due to its proximity to a busy road and walking route. Cut to ground and replace with another Lime. stem diameter at 0.5m height from ground is 40cm, cavity at this height is 30cm deep, (diameter) from opening on North side. North side cavity opening is from ground to 72cm height(x 8-10cm width), inside this cavity decay extends another 30cm below ground level and upward from ground 1.8-2m height. Cavity on South side of main stem opening starts at 64cm from ground and is 55cm in height,(10-12cm width), this then extends approx 0.6m upwards into main stem. Wound roll is pronounced, indicating these are old wounds that have simply rotted out over time, but wall thickness is roughly 10cm on tree at approx 22m height, over busy pedestrian thoroughfare. Tree is reasonably sheltered within the group but already has three large pieces of deadwood within the crown even though these trees were all dead wooded 24 months previously, this would indicate a decline in vigour.

R21/0620 Granted
18, OVAL ROAD, RUGBY, CV22 5LH
Silver birch T1 (TPO 217) - To remove Reason for application: The crown appears to be dying back, and seems in decline particularly over the boundary with 20 Oval Road. The removal of dead wood would leave the crown badly asymmetric. We would consider the tree to have poor longevity. There is possible root damage from installation of a new fence and the tree may also be suffering from age-related decline. It is proposed to plant a replacement tree. Evidence to verify application: Visual inspection 01/06/2021
-
R21/0611 Granted

Prune height to approx 2-2.5m to allow to regenerate as barrier hedging whilst giving more light to the rear garden, T2 Maple, lift crown of tree to 6m to allow more light to rear of property, tree has poor form due to being shaded out and damage from squirrels, insignificant in the context of the conservation area. G3 Laurel group at S.E. end of rear boundary, prune to 2-2.5m to allow more light to rear garden and also to encourage lower growth to increase physical barrier to rear of property.
-

T1 Yew, prune crown to re-balance and neaten overall appearance. Tree has been suppressed on West side due to its proximity to highway but has also extended growth on its South side toward the sun and dwelling, this has resulted in an unusual crown shape. I propose to prune in the crown spread on the South side by 2m, (currently 5m) predominantly the upper overextended section and 1.3m on the North side, (currently 4.3m), lightly prune remainder of crown to give an even crown spread of approx. 3m.

Prune height of both trees by approx 2-2.5m and re-shape crowns as appropriate, height currently 6-7m, pruning to help alleviate lean on T1 and keep T2 away from property. G1 Yews at rear on S.E. boundary, lift lower crown for pedestrians to 2.25m and prune back from lawn area by approx 1m retaining informal appearance.
