These pose a danger as branches have already fallen down and there is a risk of more branches breaking. The work is required is to mitigate this risk and prevent danger to people/children playing in the garden. The tree is at the corner of the neighbouring garden with branches hanging directly over my garden, approx.10 meters from my property. T2. Crown reduction of conifer hedge. Tree as identified on the submitted plan. I believe it is an Oak tree? I have been advised by several tree surgeons that the tree / trunk in question is dead and it is best that it be totally removed as it will decay further and become dangerous and more difficult to remove. I purchased the house in June 2021 with the tree already severely cropped as in the submitted photo. My neighbour informs me the upper part of the tree collapsed into her garden.

Completely remove the tree as soon as possible. A 3.25 metre Bulwell stone wall in front of the tree has been pushed [toward the highway] out and split away. A Bulwell stone wall builder inspected the wall. He informed that in his opinion the split and pushing forward of the wall was due solely to the movement of the tree and he pointed out that the repair of the wall would be pointless without the removal of the tree as the tree will continue to exert forward pressure.

T1 - Large Sycamore Remove tree. T1 is a large Sycamore situated to the rear of 33 Lucknow Drive. The Tree is approximately 25m tall with an estimated DBH of 40". The crown of the tree features multiple previous limb failures (See pic 1) and is devoid of any internal growth. At approximately 6m above ground level, there is a cavity on the Western side of the stem (Pic 4). This cavity features a black exudate which has stained the stem. Although it was not present at the time of my site visit, the tree owners report a large fungal bracket which grows from the site of the cavity, from their description it sounds as though Cerioporus squamosus is the decay fungi in question. The presence of this fungi would indicate continued decay of the structural timber within the stem. At the base of the tree, there are two desiccated fungal brackets (suspected Perenniporia fraxinea - Pic 2). Although the surrounding area does appear to display good reactive wood, I would question how long the tree will be able to sustain continued decay at this period in its life given the static mass that it must support. Furthermore, upon closer inspection, I discovered that the underside of some of the large structural roots has experienced decay, with a very distinct flattening of the root being visible without the need for root excavation. (See Pic 3) Given the location of the tree within a residential setting, I believe that the most suitable course of action is to remove the tree entirely and re-plant with a suitable specimen. Unfortunately the tree does appear to have reached over-maturity and in the current residential setting it cannot be left to it's own natural processes which would be the preferred course of action in a more suitable environment.

The tree is a very tall silver birch (T1) located on the left hand side of the rear garden looking west from Lucknow Avenue. The tree leans at a precarious angle (about 25 degrees from the vertical) and the roots are perched on a crumbling rockery bank. If the tree should fall it is in danger of reaching our neighbors garden and may pose a risk to the small child living there. We would replace this silver birch with a new sapling of the same species, plant it close to the existing tree's position but on a more stable, flat piece of ground (we have already planted four silver birches and three fruit trees during our time at this address). We have today had advice and a quotation from (Lee at) Charnwood Tree Services and would like to proceed with the felling to ground level of this tree as soon as is possible. Regards, R L Toynton.
