This tree needs to be removed to enable Pelham Court Management Company Limited to install a replacement metal fire staircase for Flat 4 which provides suitable protection during any fire evacuation. To enable the replacement metal staircase to meet current building and fire regulations, the existing raised bed will need to be removed as it sits within the location of the new staircase. There is only a single, non-original bay tree located within this bed (probably planted when Pelham Court was converted into apartments in the late 1980s). To enable the new staircase to be installed in accordance with the design agreed with Building Control by our structural engineers at Key Design, this bay tree will need to be removed. No other impact on any other trees at Pelham Court will occur as part of this work.

Cherry T1 - Remove Tree is in very poor condition and has very limited future prospects. There are large primary exposed and girdled roots at the base of tree, and it is likely the tree has restricted rooting area. There are occasional bark wounds and several Ganoderma australe fungal brackets to the roots, indicating significant root decay. The tree is single stemmed and vertical. There are occasional pruning wounds, bark wounds and bleeds to the stem and several Ganoderma australe fungal brackets to the base of the stem indicating significant stem decay. The tree???s crown overhangs the residential property???s garden, driveway and outbuildings, and the adjacent road and roadside footpath. The tree???s western crown is in contact with the residential property. There is significant dieback in the crown, with lots of minor and moderate deadwood and snapouts and occasional major deadwood to the central and southern crown. There are historic pruning wounds with some dead stubs, with minor cavities and decay. It is not considered suitable to replant a replacement tree due to the limited space and restricted rooting area.
