What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with Nottingham for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About this record

Reading the register

This page mirrors an entry on the statutory planning register that Nottingham is required to keep. The published feed for this record does not state which type of application it is, which is common for older entries and for some council systems; the register entry on the council portal will say, alongside the case officer and any consultation dates.

Every planning application follows the same broad path: submission, validation, publicity, then a decision by officers or committee. Our guide to planning application types explains the common types and what each can approve.

Large and mature Beech tree on the boundary between 35 Church Street (Unity House) and Holy Trinity Church, it is adjacent to Church Street. In accordance with recommendations made by a tree specialist, we are proposing that the tree in question is felled. The Beech tree has been identified as having extensive fruiting bodies of the fungus Meripilus giganteus (Giant Polypore). This was first identified over 12 months ago, since then fruiting bodies have appeared at the base of the tree and further up the trunk. The persistence of this fungus was confirmed in early January 2023 by a tree specialist from Groveside Tree Specialists. This fungus is known to be extremely dangerous and can cause the tree to become unstable, whilst appearing externally to be perfectly healthy. This Beech tree is very large and is adjacent to a graveyard, local road and a residential/office building (35 Church Street). If this tree were to fall then it could cause significant damage and disruption.
