Granted Nottingham 24/00468/PTPO Works to trees protected by TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

The tree is positioned to the front of the property adjacent to the driveway, It is a young mature with a stem diameter 40 centimetres at chest height. The overall vitality of the tree is poor with signs of ash dieback throughout the crown. Mutated growth and deadwood are present through the crown rusty coloured stems on the ground. Due to its location over the driveway and proximity to the road I would recommend its removal. Being position behind the Lime trees on street the tree is hidden in summer and offers little amenity to the local area. Due to its decline I would consider that its removal would be the most appropriate action. It also appears that there may be another fungal pathogen at work in the tree due to the share amount of new growth that is dead, however no fungal bodies were present at the time and it is unclear as to what is causing this. Fell 3 trees highlighted in red on the tree sketch - a small apple, small damson and aging flowering cherry tree. All three are suffering - for example, the damson lost a branch last summer that was much of the tree's mass. It seemed connected to last summer's heat/drought. We would like to remove all 3 trees to allow for replanting other fruit trees.

Tree Code: Sgl/106736 Species: Beech (Fagus sylvatica) TPO: TPO269 (T10) Works Sectionally fell and remove the Beech tree to ground level. Remove all timber, branches and arising debris from site. Grind out or otherwise remove the stump where practicable, or leave at ground level as directed by the client. Reason for Works The tree is exhibiting significant structural defects and decay, including: Evidence of substantial basal decay associated with fungal activity (Pholiota spp.). Hollow sounding stem indicating internal decay. Two very large historic tear-out wounds, including one approximately 5 metres above ground level. Major limb loss and loss of large branches. Abnormal buttressing and trunk form. Stem decay below the crown break. These defects indicate a significant decline in structural integrity and an increased risk of partial or whole-tree failure. Summary 1 × Beech (Fagus sylvatica) Sectional dismantling and removal of the entire tree due to advanced structural defects and decay.
