Proposal
We have a large lime tree in our garden we now wish to remove. We have reduced it on two occasions with permission: 2019 and this year in March. Sadly, this has not really helped and arguably made things worse as the tree has become more dense. This has led to even less light in the garden (it takes 90% of the light from 13:00 onwards) which negatively impacts the majority of the garden and lawn. We have struggled with aphids as it is now infested. The photos show the effect on the new patio in the space of a few weeks. We literally cannot put anything under it. The tree is on our neighbours (No. 7) border and so 40% goes on their side. They have the same problem and lose all of the morning/early afternoon sun. The tree has also become top heavy and so sways even more in the wind. Our neighbours asked us to remove it as they were genuinely fearful last year in the storms. They have small children. We did not want to remove it and have tried to manage it as you can see. However, we have lost and really feel there is no option other than to remove it. We have not come to that decision lightly. as set out above, our neighbours (No 7) are 100% supportive. As previously stated, we bough the house for the garden and trees. We will plant a new, but smaller, tree to replace it. We still have several trees including three very large trees so the character is not lost. This is the only lime and arguably the most unattractive of them all. We've also asked the Park Estate to plant another silver birch to the front of our house on the pavement outside. Clearly a different position but we hope this shows our desire to have trees and that this request is unusual and a one off.

We have a large lime tree in our garden near our house and that of our neighbour (no 7). We were previously granted permission to reduce the tree which we did in 2019. We only reduced by a 1/5th as we want to keep the tree. However, we now have lots of new small (epicormic) growth at the base which needs removing. We would also like to remove five low limbs/branches. These are relatively small and not either of the two main trunks (the tree is split at the base where there is a gap that fills with leaves etc and is liable to rot). The above will ensure the lower tree is in a better condition and we are able to maintain the gap between the two trunks. The removal of the lowest branches will also allow a lot more light in. The tree has really expanded laterally since being reduced - as expected! Overall we do not feel it is a big job and will leave the tree arguably better balanced than it is now. In addition, and at the same time, we want to prune back overhanging limbs and foliage from the road to the rear of the house by 2-4 metres. These are hanging over the road more and more. We have previously light pruned lower foliage at request of the Park Estate as the leaves/branches were head height for pedestrians. We love our trees and bought the house 7 years ago for them and the garden. The above work will add and not take away from the tree/garden. BW Nick and Lorena

Large Sycamore tree to the rear of property (approx 4ft from rear south western wall in aerial picture). Looking to fell tree to ground level + poison stump with Ecoplugs slow release stump killer. The tree itself has way outgrown its surroundings severely shading the bungalow + windows of the large white building next door, some neighbours sitting in complete darkness for the past few years. Last year builders where required to repair garage flooring due to root damage which I'm sure will only happen again/get worse with time. Removing the tree will also give the Silver birch next it to chance to flourish, this tree is situated in a much better location and also is slower growing/allows Alot more light through.
